Live-action interviews and medical 2D animated explainers for medication company, Elekta. Produced, filmed, animated and edited by DreamingFish.

The client and the brief
Wβe worked with global Swedish medical equipment manufacturing company, Elekta, to create a series of clinical expert interview films for the Versa HD, bringing together live-action filming, international production support and bespoke medical device animation.
The aim was to create credible, specialist-led video content that would speak to a clinical and medical technology audience. Rather than producing a standard product film, the project focused on respected experts discussing their work, their experience and the role of Versa HD in a real clinical context. The series included interviews with leading specialists including Alison Tree, Anna Britten and Arjun Sahgal. Filming took place at Elektaβs UK head office (Crawley), while additional interviews were captured internationally in Canada.
This was a healthcare video production project where tone, detail and credibility were essential. The content needed to feel polished and professional, but also intelligent and grounded. It had to work for an audience that understands the clinical field, so there was no room for generic messaging or over-simplified product storytelling.
Global logistics: remote direction & production consistency
There was also a practical production challenge. Some contributors were based outside the UK, so we organised trusted local crews and directed the filming remotely. This allowed Elekta to capture high-quality interviews with key specialists without the cost and complexity of sending a full UK crew overseas. We managed the production process across multiple locations, making sure the interviews felt consistent in quality, framing and tone. For the international filming, we briefed local crews carefully and directed the sessions remotely, helping maintain a clear visual style across the full series.
More than just live-action
Another important creative consideration for this project was how to show the Versa HD machine itself. Elekta had previously used more realistic 3D-rendered product visuals, but for this project, they wanted a different approach that would better suit the overall look and feel of the films.
With this in mind, we designed a more minimal and stylised animated version of the Versa HD machine and its capabilities. This gave the films a cleaner, more contemporary feel and avoided the need for heavy, hyper-realistic product rendering. The animation was created to support the expert commentary rather than distract from it. It helped explain the technology visually, while keeping the overall tone calm, clinical and sophisticated. The final films gave Elekta a strong suite of expert-led healthcare video content. The interviews brought authority and trust, while the animation helped communicate the productβs capabilities in a clear and visually refined way.
Elekta responded positively to the creative approach, particularly the more minimal animated treatment of the Versa HD. It provided a fresh alternative to traditional 3D product visuals and suited the tone of the wider campaign.
Project overview
This project demonstrates our experience in healthcare video production, clinical interview filming and medical device animation. We understand how to work with specialist contributors, sensitive medical subject matter and complex clinical technology. We are also able to manage production across different locations, organise international crews and direct remotely while maintaining quality and consistency. For medical technology companies, this kind of work requires more than technical video production. It requires judgement, sensitivity and the ability to make complex information feel clear, credible and engaging.
FAQs on medical video production
For the Elekta project, we maintained a unified visual style by carefully briefing trusted local crews. By directing these sessions remotely, we were able to oversee the framing, lighting and interview tone in real-time, ensuring that every film in the series felt part of a cohesive collection.
We bridge the gap between technical engineering and clear communication by using a combination of expert-led storytelling and bespoke animation. Instead of relying on generic scripts, we let respected specialists explain the real-world impact of the technology. We then support their insights with clean, sophisticated visuals that break down complex features into digestible and professional content that maintains clinical credibility.
Absolutely. As demonstrated in this case study, we use a “Global Reach, Local Touch” approach. We organise and manage local production teams and direct them remotely, from our Surrey studio. This significantly reduces travel costs and complexity for the client, while maintaining the high production standards we have here at DreamingFish.
