The project
Multinational engineering and design company, Atkins are pushing the boundaries with 5D technology, and we at DreamingFish were excited to help them showcase it. Our crew spent a full day on location at a quarry in Bedfordshire, capturing the action for their ‘Digital Aerial Surveys’ film. Alongside High Viz Media‘s drone operators, we filmed engineers explaining how drone surveys are transforming their work. The engineers shared how this technology, from precise data capture to project planning, is shaping the future of engineering. Our goal was to create a film that showcased the technology and the people driving Atkins forward.
Traditionally, aerial surveys were carried out using helicopters, which could be costly and limited in flexibility. Drones have completely changed the game, providing higher-quality data while significantly reducing costs. We filmed interviews with key Bristol engineers explaining how drone data is processed to generate detailed site insights and predictions. The film not only highlights the technology itself but also demonstrates how different teams collaborate to turn raw data into actionable intelligence. Designed for both internal and external audiences, the film celebrates innovation, encourages interdepartmental collaboration, and embodies the One Atkins philosophy, showing how cutting-edge technology and teamwork come together to drive smarter, more efficient engineering solutions.
