Our animated Christmas film
It’s nearly Christmas! To get you all in the festive spirit, we’re sharing our 2022 animated Christmas film. Created by our talented Motion Graphics Designer, Sam, we caught up with him to hear more about the inspiration of this year’s video:
“I think subconsciously I was inspired by last year’s video and a squirrel around the winter holidays. The video actually started with the snowman and was heavily inspired by the frames below, created by 3D designer, Roger Rouge ID. They depict cute winter vignettes which work great as stand alone images. I love the basic geometry of the characters and the composition of the frames.
From there, I wanted to animate it and tie a story in so the snowman losing his scarf and having it returned by the squirrel was a nice way to tie it all together (pun not intended). I had also thought that it would be nice to place them inside a snow globe. Initially, I tried this in the scene itself but, we as a team came to the decision it might be nice to have them in someone’s home to bring the holiday cheer!” ⛄️ ❄️
Presenting a festive friendship ⛄️

FAQs about a Festive Friendship
Rendering is the most time-consuming part. It depends on the complexity of the lighting and textures. A single frame can take anywhere from a few hours to a full day. This is why some studios use “render farms” (thousands of computers working together) to speed up the process!
We initially experimented with a standalone scene, but we eventually reached the joint decision of placing the characters inside a snow globe. By doing so, we felt that placing the globe inside a home made the animation feel more personal and helped to “bring the holiday cheer”.
