Series of 8x 2D illustrated explainer videos for private equity firm, Coller Capital. Produced, designed and animated by DreamingFish.
Requirements
To create a comprehensive series of eight animated videos to support Coller Capital’s educational content for clients and prospects. The series focused on topics within Private Equity and Secondaries, such as “Introduction to Private Equity Secondaries” and “The Diversification Power of Secondaries”. An additional deliverable was the production of social media cutdowns/teasers for each of the completed videos. We produced these videos for a new educational website launching in June 2025, specifically designing them for international scale with future Italian and Chinese translations in mind.
Approach
The project was a long-term collaboration that involved iterations on visual style, voiceover talent and final compliance sign-off.
- Visual design and branding: We elevated the design approach to deliver a premium look and feel across all assets.
- The client requested a high-definition illustrative approach.
- We opted for an illustrative, hand-drawn style to give the brand a more personal and approachable feel.
- Our team designed sophisticated characters dressed in professional, muted-tone business attire to ensure a high-end visual appeal.
- Voiceover selection: The team worked to integrate both male and female voiceovers to mix the content and avoid redundancy in the series. To achieve a more approachable feel, we used a smooth male AI voice across all videos, enhancing the overall viewer experience. Using an AI voice in place of the initial human voice also helped free up some budget.
- Compliance and Legal: We collaborated closely with the Coller Capital Compliance team to develop and approve a mandatory legal disclaimer, ensuring every video met all regulatory requirements.
- Final outputs and edits: The project included several rounds of feedback and minor edits on each video, with all deliverables signed off by mid June 2025, following an extension to the project timeline.
Outputs
The project was a clear success with a high level of client satisfaction. There were several key outputs:
- Eight Animated Explainer Videos: We produced and finalised the complete series of eight videos to the highest standard. Head over to Coller’s YouTube channel to watch all the videos.
- Launch and Internal Reception: The first six videos were approved by the Compliance team and uploaded to Coller Capital’s new educational website, which launched in June. The videos were “very well-received” internally and have been “hugely beneficial to the firm,” being used in meetings globally.
- Social Media Cutdowns: Social media teasers were developed for the entire series.
