A spooky Halloween bake off!
Weβre kicking off the spooky season with a good old-fashioned Halloween-themed bake-off β because who doesnβt love an excuse to bake, eat cake and get competitive?! ππ» The theme? Trick or treat flapjacks of course. And wow, did the DreamingFish team deliver…
We kicked things off with Mr Phil’s zesty chocolate orange flapjack and Lucy’s ghoulie coconut and peanut butter flavoured flapjack, which had just the right balance of nutty and sweet. Extra bonus points for the ghoul decorations! Next was Ben, with the help of his son Finn, unveiled a golden syrup mummified flapjack, which was tasty and also beautifully decorated.
James made us a triple choc flapjack (minus points for no decoration, booo!) whilst Lady Sam baked a white chocolate & pistachio flapjack. Don’t worry, no teeth were broken during the taste test!
Ross aka his wife, Fee made a jumbo oat flapjack with frosting and edible bats – delish! Josh went for a chocolate splattered spider on top of a treacle flapjack, oh and there was also a white chocolate and bloody (not literally…) raspberry and strawberry flapjack made by yours truly. It’s safe to say that after sampling all of those delicious flapjacks, a nap was very much needed!

And the winner is…
After an intense score session, we had our true winner; Ross’s (and Fee’s!) jumbo flapjacks took the crown. Not only did it look the part with its spooky Halloween themed edible bats, but it tasted incredible too. A bake-off masterpiece worthy of the crown! πThe golden crown was presented by our guest judge and DF’s bestie, Robbie, who may have sneaked an extra flapjack slice on the way out…
So, a huge congratulations to newbie Ross on taking home his very first bake-off crown.π Now the big question isβ¦what theme should we tackle next? Valentineβs bakes? Easter eggs? Or maybe something completely out there? Stay tuned, round two is coming!
