The ‘Big Give’ project
The Big Give Green Match Fund is a seven-day campaign matching donations for UK and global environmental charities. This year, Tree Aid has been selected once again, and we’re thrilled to support their vital work.
Starting at 12pm on 22nd April, Tree Aid has just one week to raise £144,000.00 to help communities in Africa’s drylands restore their land and build sustainable futures. Every donation made will be doubled, matched pound for pound, until 12pm on 29th April or until their goal is reached.
Gifty’s story
As part of this campaign, Nia, from the Tree Aid team reached out to us for some editing support and we were delighted to help. The short campaign film tells the story of ‘Gifty’, a woman from Northern Ghana, and how her life has improved with the support of Tree Aid.
Shea trees provide the nuts for shea butter; a vital source of income for women across West Africa. However, making shea butter by hand is labor-intensive and can take up to three days per batch, without proper equipment. With Tree Aid’s support, Gifty gained access to specialist equipment, training, and support from other local women.
As a result, she has now tripled her daily output from one bag to three, significantly boosting her productivity and income. Moreover, Tree Aid’s assistance has enabled her to provide more for her family, build friendships, and grow her confidence.
