Tree Aid x International Women’s Day
In honour of International Women’s Day today, we are incredibly proud to give a special shoutout to our long standing charity partner, Tree Aid. Over the last few years, we have seen firsthand how their mission aligns with the core values of International Women’s Day, particularly in their dedication to breaking cycles of poverty by empowering women across Sub-Saharan Africa.
This International Women’s Day, we are revisiting a powerful story of resilience and transformation. We are sharing a video that highlights Ayishetu’s story a determined cashew farmer based in West Gonja, Ghana, whose life embodies the spirit of female empowerment.
A story of resilience
Before her partnership with the charity, Ayishetu faced the daily struggle of seasonal instability. She shares: “Before I got into cashew, I had no other job. I used to pick shea nuts when they were in season, and I used to sell them. I also used to pick firewood or work as a farmhand on other people’s farm. Life was really difficult then.”
Since working with Tree Aid, Ayishetu’s life has changed for the better through the charity’s ongoing support. “These past three years with Tree Aid has been very beneficial for me. Even when the project is over, I will still be making money with the training I received.” Watch her story below:
