Billie the Brave

Billie’s story

As September (Blood Cancer Awareness Month) comes to an end, we’re proud to share our latest project with Leukaemia UK: Billie the Brave.

At just 21 months old, Billie was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and began intensive treatment, including chemotherapy. We had the privilege of sitting down with Billie’s mum, Freyja, in Cambridge to hear their story first-hand. It was an incredibly moving conversation, as Freyja reflects: “When she was diagnosed at 1, we weren’t sure she would ever make it to school. And she did. She got through two and a half years of cancer treatment, and now is just thriving.” This message of hope is at the heart of Billie the Brave’s story.

Bringing Billie’s story to life

When starting this project, we wanted to tell Billie’s story with care and sensitivity, giving Freyja space to share their experience in her own words. This resulted in a personal and heartfelt film that celebrates Billie’s journey while shining a light on the vital work of Leukaemia UK. Billie the Brave premiered at this year’s Who’s Cooking Dinner charity event. Seeing Billie’s story resonate with so many people in the room was a truly special moment for us.

A note from Leukaemia UK

Following the event, we were thrilled to receive such lovely feedback from the LUK team:

“I just wanted to message to say a huge thank you to you for the wonderful film that you created for Who’s Cooking Dinner. It truly was a highlight of the evening and really perfectly told Billie and her family’s story. We’ve had so much wonderful feedback about how beautiful and poignant it was. It’s been so lovely working with you and thank you again for your incredible support on this.”

Thank you x

Projects like this are a reminder of why we love what we do. Video has the power to share stories with audiences in a way that is human, emotional and memorable. We’re incredibly grateful to Leukaemia UK for trusting us with Billie’s story, and to Freyja and her family for allowing us to share such a personal part of their lives. ❤️
