Happy Earth Day 2024
At DreamingFish, we’ve been measuring our carbon footprint since 2021, helping us understand where we can make a difference and continually look for ways to reduce and offset our emissions.
‘We care’ is one of our core values, and that means caring for our Earth, our communities and our wildlife. Our ongoing partnerships with Tree Aid and WWF UK help us turn these values into action. But we know there’s always more we can do. That’s why we’re continually taking action to reduce the emissions we can control and make more sustainable choices across our work.
Our figures for 2023 show a 14.5% reduction across both Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. We do not create any Scope 1 emissions. We undertook less air travel in 2023 and increased our use of greener forms of transport, such as trains, where possible.
Heating remains a challenge within Scope 2, so we’re focused on making our electric heaters as efficient as possible. Scope 3 is also challenging, as we have limited control over third-party emissions, but we aim to influence these through contracts and other means, where possible. We use Normative to measure our emissions based on the previous year’s accounts. While this provides a simple way to calculate our footprint, it has its limitations and doesn’t reflect reductions made within our supply chain.
We’ve pledged to reach net zero by 2030 or earlier and invite others to join us in building a better and safer future. How is your company progressing? We’d love to hear your suggestions, if you’re going through the same process.
